About The Association

Last year officers of the Association had meetings with the Managing Director of Cardiff Bus and others concerning new proposed timetables which consultants had put forward. If they had been implemented it would have meant no means of public transport to Radyr or Fairwater. As there are a number of elderly people and young mothers who are dependant on public transport, our actions helped to restore a satisfactory service.

Direct negotiations with the agent for the Earl of Plymouth Estates now means that there is street lighting from the shops to Cadoc Place and barriers to protect safe access to and from the ramp from the shops to the car park.

The DCA appeared as witnesses in court and successfully opposed the drinks’ licence application made by Texaco for the garage by the roundabout.

The Association has campaigned strongly to oppose mobile phone masts in recent years. In each instance the applications have been withdrawn.

Members of the committee attended and spoke at a planning meeting to oppose a planning application for a bungalow to be constructed on an existing children’s playground. With the support of our Councillors the application was withdrawn.

These are just a few of the activities undertaken by the DCA in the last year or two. Over the preceding years many other actions have been taken to protect the area in which we all live.
