Job Opportunities.

I am still looking for interested parties who wish to advertise suitable employment positions on this page.  I have recently been approached by an ex corps member who now works for a worldwide employment agency, and hopefully we may be able to work in partnership to bring more content to this page.

In the meantime, I will continue to publish extracts from the Royal Signals Newsletter - as this is an excellent source of information and contacts.  Remember, you may not find a vacancy that suits you here, however a tentative CV and covering letter maybe the way forward - either way - good luck.

Jobs for the Juniors - Webmasters View

I have to confess, that since I have been publishing the Job Snippets, it would appear (well to me anyway) that a somewhat alarming trend is becoming apparent. Over the last couple of months I have noticed very few jobs that would appear suitable for the younger person who may be thinking of leaving the forces.  Most of the jobs that are advertised  seem to be aimed at FofS / YofS or Officer level - those few in the Corps who may have gained Project Management experience whilst working within DPA/MOD.

I do see many adverts that state 'may suit ex Tech', but never seem to see any mention of other trades within the Corps.  Rarely, if ever, do I see jobs advertised specifically requesting Area/Radio Systems Operator, Electrician Drivers, Stores Accountants or Driver Linemen etc.  Many employers appear to be looking for both skills and education levels that, I believe, to be outside of the ability of our junior soldiers. It may be that employers are unfamiliar with the skillsets of our junior tradesmen - however  to the outsider looking in, it appears that the job market is currently  pretty bleak.

As I have stated on these pages before, I have talked with quite a few agencies in the past, (some even represented by ex Corps personnel), and few appeared to be interested in the non-technical side of the corps. So does that mean that there are no jobs out there suited to the 'lower echelons' of the Corps tradesmen?  I sincerely hope not.

Who knows, maybe I'm just not looking in the right areas, or maybe this is just a passing trend and things are about to pick up for the non-technical side of the Corps.  However, I would still be very interested to hear from anyone who may be able to point me in the direction of anybody who can offer viable opportunities that can provide Jobs for the Juniors.
