| Dougo's
musical life began at Farnham Art School in the late 50's. The film Rock Around the Clock prompted him to buy his first guitar inspired by Franny Beecher. He saw Bill and the Comets first hand in 1957 and practised hard to start a group of his own. Throughout the 60's he played in pop bands recording with Adam Faith, Sandie Shaw and Chris Andrews. In Germany, with a group called the Hifis, he also had recording success and played many times at the legendary Star Club in Hamburg. He has also worked with and backed Gene Vincent, Clarence Frogman Henry and Roy Orbison. Greg (sax)and Ted (lead guitar), also at art school with Dougo, formed Razzle Dazzle about four years ago and they are all happy to keep the name of Bill Haley alive on the ever growing Rock 'n' .Roll circuit. I don't want it to ever stop he says, and lets face it the original Comets are still at it in their 70's. |
