What exactly does
massage do?
Massage works on
many levels giving numerous benefits. As we know, massage stimulates
circulation in the body which increases the supply of oxygen to, and removal
of toxins from, the blood at a cellular level.
The movement and
warmth of massage has a calming effect on the nervous system, releasing
tension, easing pain and may restore balance to an over-active sympathetic
nervous system (e.g. increased heart rate or respiration rate), whilst
stimulating the parasympathetic system (which, e.g. controls our resting
heart rate and relaxed respiration, helping us to conserve energy and rest
properly).
Generally massage
does the following…..
- Massage reduces
stress and induces deep relaxation

- Massage

revitalises energy
- Massage is
preventative health care

These positive
effects are subtle yet fundamental to our health, wellbeing and quality of
life.
