What should I
expect from a treatment?
Initial consultation
takes a few minutes to gather some personal details and a brief medical
history.
Ideally working on
bare skin, you are invited to undress to your undergarments. The therapist
will make a quick physical assessment looking for imbalance and, in later
treatments, improvement or change.
Based on the
patient's information so far, the therapist mentally prepares a bespoke
treatment. Face down on a professional therapist's couch, covered comfortably
with towels, the treatment begins.
A series of moves
are made (during which time many patients feel a deep tingling sense of
relaxation, - some fall asleep) and the patient is left alone and undisturbed
for 2 minutes while the subtle vibrations are registered within the body.
Many sometimes
surprising sensations are reported by the patient, all of which is good. In
this therapy, change is good as it is the beginning of homeostasis (the
body's return to its natural state of balance, ie. good health).
Please note that
Bowen therapy is not a 'pampering', massage-style treatment.
How many
treatments will I need?
Patients often
experience significant improvement in their condition in the first 3
treatments.
