A short Service of Dedication was held, led by the Reverend John Oliver who had served on both of HM Ships Black Swan and London.

In the Faith of Christ, today in this
 the Yangtze Incident Grove,
We Dedicate this Memorial Stone to
the Glory of God and in Memory of
our Forty-Six Shipmates
Who Died as a Result of the Action on the
River Yangtze in April 1949
in the Defence of Freedom.

May it be to all who Visit here a Reminder
of the Cost of Freedom and an Inspiration
to Serve their Fellow Men.

In the Name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit.
