Marines Museum
Southsea, Sunday 21st April 2002.
On the Sunday afternoon of the 53rd. Anniversary of the Yangtze Incident the Association presented four bell ropes to the Museum. The ropes, housed in a glass fronted case, are in the individual colours of the ships involved, Amethyst, Black Swan, Consort and London.
The ropes will be a lasting memorial to the 15 men of HMS London who lost their lives in China in April 1949. Of those that died two, William Fisher and Lawrence Henry Jarvis, were Royal Marines manning S1 and S2 on the four inch gundeck.
