This painting of HMS London in Hong Kong is a copy of an original oil painting by artist Paul Joyce. Hailing originally from Plymouth, Paul changed subject type to paint HMS London earlier this year (2003). Known internationally for his railway paintings Paul, a colleague of my son Nick, completed this superb painting working with photographs from this website as well as researching those special colours of the Far East at his local library.

A printer by profession, Paul has a fascination for all things mechanical. As well as his paintings and prints, Paul has written numerous articles of the life and times of railway footplate crews and their operating practices. As a working member of the 'Watercress Line' he is invariably to be found on the weekly 'Cathedral Express' main line steam hauled excursions operated from various London termini.
