Ordinary Seaman Bernie Mullings.
Every year Bernie makes the trip from his home in Canada to attend the reunion with his brother Ron and sister-in-law Nora. Bernie was the youngest Boy Seaman on HMS London and was promoted Ordinary Seaman immediately following the Yangtze Incident. On arrival at Chatham Bernie was whisked away to the BBC's Alexandra Palace, along with two officers and another seaman, to be interviewed about events on the Yangtze river. On the way back to Chatham the car Bernie was travelling in was involved in an accident, but luckily no one was injured.
