Lieutenant Commander Gordon Bruty.
I first made contact with Lieutenant Commander Gordon Bruty through the good offices of Graham Bramley early in 2000. Gordon joined HMS London as an ERA whilst she was undergoing an extensive refit at Chatham Dockyard in 1940 and stayed with her until 1946. When he finally left the 'London' Gordon had progressed to the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
My wife Lyn, daughter Donna and I have now met Gordon and his lovely wife Jennie on a number of occasions. We normally enjoy a leisurely lunch at the London Inn at Horrobridge under photographs of four HMS London's and the ships crest, there, at Gordon's instigation. At our last meeting in October (2001), and following lunch in the Ward Room at HMS Drake, Gordon kindly allowed me to copy some of his photographs which are reproduced on the following pages.

Simonstown in 1945 a Mrs. Cooper arranged for a party from
HMS London to stay with Mrs. Morris and her family in Kimberley.
