56th Reunion Weekend,
Portsmouth, 22nd - 24th April 2005.
HMS Collingwood, Saturday 23rd April.

Saturday called for an early start with all the activities planned for the day. The hotel staff were a bit surprised to be inundated with 60 odd guests when the restaurant opened at half past seven, I don't think they were expecting so many early risers!! However they quickly responded and everyone was set up for the day with a hearty breakfast. The first port of call was the Navigation Training Unit at HMS Collingwood. The Unit is housed in the Endeavour Building at Collingwood and consists of the main navigation bridges, Consort and London, with the blind pilotage rooms named Amethyst and Black Swan. The Unit maintains strong links with all four of the Yangtze Incident Associations and many of their VIP visitors remark how pleased they are to see this ongoing relationship. In July 2003 we met with Lieutenant Commander David Goddard who heads-up the Training Unit. David spent sometime viewing our website and suggested that some of our photographs and a copy of the painting of HMS London at Hong Kong would be ideal to hang in the ante-room leading to the London bridge. On the following pages are copies of the photographs and the presentation. |
