54th Reunion Weekend,
Chatham, 19th - 23rd April 2003.
|
The 54th Reunion Weekend was held at HMS London's home port of Chatham. Just over 110 members and guests attended all staying at the former NAAFI in Brompton Road, now known as the King Charles Hotel. In his own inestimable way Chairman John Parker had organised the weekend with just the right amount of planned activities and free time. Members and guests started to arrive on the Friday afternoon. Dinner was planned for 7:30 but by mid-afternoon the bar and surrounding area was full of former shipmates and their families catching up on news. After a leisurely dinner the bar area beckoned again but as midnight approached numbers dwindled, tomorrow was going to be a busy day. Saturday dawned overcast and damp but a visit to Rochester Cathedral beckoned. Every Saturday morning the Chatham Branch of the Royal Marine Association turn the pages of two Books of Remembrance. Today the members of the London Association were to be guests at the Ceremony. |
