The 50th. Anniversary of the Yangtze Incident.
Saturday 24th. April 1999.

Saturday dawned bright and sunny and in company with my wife Lyn and daughter Donna we set off on the 65 mile journey from Fremington in North Devon to Plymouth. The objective of the day was to visit Plymouth City Museum & Art Gallery to view the Yangtze Incident 1949 Exhibition and do some shopping.

The Exhibition was interesting and well presented but of course mainly about HMS Amethyst. Whilst understandable it must have been disappointing for the crew members of Consort, Black Swan and London that they merited little mention. However London's Ships Bell was there, originally presented to her battleship predecessor in 1905, and although not bright and shiny it was impressive.
