FOUNDATION
Foundation: Introduction:
Whatever type you have you should always wear a moisturiser under your foundation. It will prevent you skin from absorbing the foundation and making it look patchy on your skin. Find a foundation that is best suited to your skin tone. If your foundation is to dark, add a little moisturiser to it, this will also make it easier to apply. When choosing a concealer, look for one, which is nearest to your natural tone.
Foundation comes in lots of different forms, here is a list of foundations to help you choose one you will prefer:
Liquid foundation is light, which is either oil or water based. If you have oily skin, look for oil free or water based products to absorb your natural oil. This foundation has a light natural coverage. This is good if you have a good complexion, it evens out the skin colour and is good if you have just started to use foundation. If you have spots go for heavier coverage, if you have dry skin, use one that is ultra sheer.
Cream compact foundation is good for normal or oily skin. It is a not messy like creams and liquids. It provides a thicker and excellent coverage with a powdery finish that is not too heavy. This is also good if you have blemishes, it has full coverage. Avoid Compact if you have got dry skin.
Tinted moisturiser is good for dry and normal skin. This is a moisturiser with a tint of foundation and it is Very light. This is very good if you have a good complexion as it gives your complex a healthy sun kissed look. It gives your skin colour a boost. It is particularly good for dry skin because it is moisturising. Avoid tinted moisturisers if you have oily or spotty skin, this is because the fine foundation will not cover red patches or blemishes.
Stick concealer is good for normal and oily skin. Stick foundations look like a big cover up stick, but it blends easier. They are good if you have problem skin because they have a thicker coverage. It is used to hide any spots, blemishes or dark circles under the eyes. It is always difficult trying to cover a spot. To get the most from your concealer, you should always apply it to blemishes using a brush. Stick foundations are thicker than creams so avoid putting it all over your face as it will look like you are wearing a mask. Avoid stick foundation if you have dry skin as this will show up any flaky bits.
Face powder is very fine on the skin. This sets your foundation to make it last longer during the day and it can be used on most skin types, but if you have dry skin, it may make your skin look flaky and more dry.
What foundation is best for your skin?
If you have normal skin type you can use most products on your skin including cream, powder and gel foundations.
If you have dry or mature skin, use liquid foundations or moisturiser with a tint of foundation, this will not look too much and it will give a healthy glow to your skin. Avoid using powders for this will show the slightest fine line and wrinkle.
If you have oily skin, use oil free foundations. Also use powders or loose powders as they will take the shine off.
If you have sensitive skin, you can use most foundations as long as they are hypoallergenic or designed for sensitive skin.
