Looking around at the various kits on the market I chose to build the NG TF. This is a roadster based on 1940's sports tourers. It has an upright radiator, sweeping front wings which curve into running boards. The rear slopes gently backwards with the spare wheel completing the picture. Original cars of this type include Morgans, and early MGs.

NG kit cars have been in production for over 20 years and have changed ownership a number of times during their life. Currently they are owned by Findhorn cars, based on the Hampshire/Sussex border. The cars are based on an MGB GT or MGB Roadster donor, which of course are classic cars in their own right and have a traditional sporting pedigree. The deciding factors for me when selecting the car were the overall look of the car, the modular construction, the availability of parts and choice of donor, also the location of the supplier.

The clincher was a test drive! This wasn't plain sailing, the car was dificult to get into, especially with the hood on, and the initial feel of driving such a small car with no power steering or brakes, and a manual gearbox was scary. After a couple of minutes I started to get the hang of it and remembered what it used to be like to drive a car - fun. I started to enjoy the experience and I was sold !!
