Flamborough Is an ancient fishing village set within the massive peninsula of the same name on the East Yorkshire coast. The name Flamborough is a derivative of Flame-borough and was inspired by the cliff top beacons that burned brightly to warn seafarers of the hazardous reefs around this area. Today, a lighthouse and foghorn continue to communicate the same warning. The village remains a thriving community and boasts several pubs, grocery stores, a hairdresser, two fish and chip shops, a post office and there’s even a florist.

Though slightly inland, Flamborough is the perfect base to begin walks (or a brief drive) to many fascinating bays, caves, columns and cliff tops. Birdwatchers from around the world visit Flamborough, now an accredited bird observatory, to view Puffins, Guillemot, Razorbill, Fulmar, Shag and Kittiwake.

With its status of SSSI ( Site of Special Scientific Interest ), Flamborough and its chalky outcrops is protected for future generations.

Flamborough is well situated for trips to the Victorian seaside resorts of Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough; and there are umpteen National Trust properties, gardens and great days out – all within easy reach.
