As independent consultants and airship brokers Airship Initiatives provides the expertise to put airships to work in a range of roles from heavy-lift airships for cargo, to airship tourism, aerial advertising, photography or filming work, or airborne surveillance and scientific and environmental missions.
John's involvement with airships began in 1984 with a ride in the Goodyear blimp Europa, and since then he has been chasing the airship dream all over the world. He has flown in most modern helium types including the Zeppelin NT, Airship Industries' Skyships 500 and 600, the German-built WDL-1B, T&C's two-man GA-42, and more ABC Lightships than you can shake a stick at. John is a recognised authority of all aspects of lighter-than-air and has written articles for magazines, newspapers and specialist journals, as well as several books on the subject. They both have considerable hands-on experience within the lighter-than-air business having flown in excess of 12,000 passengers in both the UK and overseas.
In 2007 they formed Zeppelin Tours to
make the airship experience more accessible with flights in
Friedrichshafen, southern Germany, and other locations throughout the
world.
