The Thing

PRIORYTOWN SETTLERS

This game is without doubt one of the most complicated game that I play, and for that very reason, I think it has become one of my favourites! It combines all the good aspects of all the other games, into one hugely impressive format. My only disappointment was being unable to re-name all my team when I took over! However, I was able to change the team name. When I took over, the team was called Ski City, but I fancied a new name. I have recently moved to a new house in a small market town, whose most historic building is a ruined priory (see photo above). So the name Priorytown Settlers seemed to be a good choice!

There are three divisions of ten teams in this game. There are also numerous chances to win a cup or two!

The cost of playing this game is relatively low. A full season costs a mere £3 plus postage costs! However, The games master is one of the enlightened few who allow e-mail orders and indeed, he sends out his magazine, ‘The Thing’, via e-mail too! You do not have to be on-line to play, but it does speed things up a little, not having to rely on the postal service. For more information on the game, or to join the waiting list, contact:

Season 34

7th September 2008

Wow!

After a few seasons in the wilderness, we are back! We took a drastic step a few seasons ago where we sold all the players are started again. The new team is now developing nicely and we are again competitive. While we are probably not quite ready to challenge for promotion this season, we should at least be able to battle!

This week was a very busy week indeed with four games to play. So busy in fact that to avoid tiring out the players too much we had to make a decision on which competition we were prepared to drop out of. Also, with only one goalkeeper, we had to invest in a back up, but more of that later! We started in the league, away at Pooch City. We were wasteful in that we missed another penalty in this game. Thankfully it did not matter as two goals from Slapbladder were enough. In the FA Cup we were at home against Sysfems from division 2. For a team above us in the rankings they were very disorganised and we were not going to let that pass us by. Slapbladder got another 2 goals and was joined by Albion and Fancourt. We play Discworld in the next round. Next came the Intertoto cup, and this was the game we sacrificed. The only notable thing to report was the debut of Muscadet in goal. Back to the league and a home game against Pierrots. The final score was helped by them getting an injury and also having a player sent off, but it was still impressive. Goals from Slapbladder (3), Cobble, Cattistock, Weardale and Westgate.

Pooch City 1 - Priorytown Settlers 2.

Priorytown Settlers 4 - Sysfems 2. (FA Cup)

Faeros 5 - Priorytown Settlers 0. (Intertoto Cup)

Priorytown Settlers 7 - Pierrots 0.

Transfer News. We did a little bit of horse trading this week mainly to avoid fatigue but also to redefine the squad a little. I decided that Campion was simply a make-weight player as Whitby looks a better prospect. So he was sold out of the league for £1,120,000. Very nice! I used £400,000 of that to buy Muscadet. He is simply to be used as a backup for now.
