PBM- Grand Slam

Team Hollywood

This game is a very simple tennis game devised to be quick and easy to play. It is based within a Europe wide zine called United Friends, which is primarily a football game. However the tennis game sits well alongside the main game. It is free to play and each turn takes maybe 15 minutes at the most to complete. It is also free to play!

One of the nice aspects of the game is that players age quickly. This means that whenever you start the game, your players develop, then diminish quickly. This makes it easy for new managers to come into the game at any point without being disadvantaged too much.

Each manager has a team of two players who specialise in one of four different court types. Each turn there are two tournaments and the manager must decide which his players will attend and also the tactics they will use. The tactics are simply to decide how much effort to expend in each set of the match!

There is also a Davis Cup type of event, a Masters Invitational event and a Grand Slam cup!

There is no waiting list for this game, and there is always room for new managers to add to the tournament numbers so what is there to stop you?

10th February 2008

Both players headed for the Australian Open this week.

Al Pacino was looking jaded and desperately needs a return to his preferred playing surface. Having broken into the top 10 in the world he had been given a bye into round two. Hoping for a good result but went out in the singles after a five set thriller in round 2, after winning the first two sets 6-1. He really should have held on in the third but the lost tie breaker broke his spirit. In the doubles event, it was a similar story, won the first two sets and them crumbled. This time he was paired with a poorish player so maybe it was to be expected.

Al Pacino drops from 14th place to 20th place overall.

Charles Bronson was in much better form than Al although you would hardly notice as he slumped to a three set defeat in the second round of the singles. But in the doubles, he found himself paired with a very solid partner. They recovered from two sets down in the first round to go through. It was a repeat in the quarter finals and again in the semi finals. Bronson was in his first final with dodgy tactics, but he was there! However, after losing the first set, they switched styles to win the next three and win the title!

Charles Bronson rises from 32nd to 27th in the world rankings.

In the race for the invitational tournaments, Charles Brosnon is ranked highly for the Champions cup.
