ActiveX applets take considerably longer to download than the equivalent Java applets;
however, they more fully exploit the features of Windows, and do not require a VM.
They have a much less secure approach to local file access than Java.

association of a file extension with the program that opens that type of file:
- If a file extension is associated with the wrong application, it cannot easily be fixed with Windows Explorer's File Types tab
in the Folder Options dialog box without deleting the entire entry.
Instead, launch winfile from the Run dialog box, pull down the File menu and select the Associate command.
Type the extension in the Files With Extension text box.
The errant file association will appear in the Associate With text box.
To remove it, scroll to the top of the list of file types, select (None), and then click OK.
