My first attempt at modeling the Tardis Console was made some years ago using a combination of Corel CAD and trueSpace. When I upgraded my software to Cinema4D I ported the across but was never very happy with the results. The impetus for this major remodel was the arrival of the DVD box set of The Key To Time season. | The measurements were taken from Gene Fenders excellent schematics which were also largely responsible for me chosing Tom Baker's Console in preference to the various other designs as a modeling subject. Detailing was done by viewing hours of fuzzy VHS recordings of UK Gold broadcasts and, without any form of video capture device, I even resorted to snapping photos of the TV screen with my digital camera to get some reference images. How much easier it is today with DVDs and screen capture buttons!
Each Console panel is marked with a number of dots; details of the individual panels and other Console constituents can be accessed from the menu on the left. I have tried to keep my model faithful to the spirit of the original prop but make no claims as to the absolute accuracy of my Console. |
