I have worked with the power supplies for Fusion research for the last 16 years. Most of this time has been at the UK Fusion Research Centre,  at the Culham Science Centre, Abingdon, Oxfordshire. (see Fusion in the UK)

I also spent a couple of years with the Italians in Padova on the RFX project.

Fusion will be the energy of the future. It is the process that drives the stars along with our sun.

In the long term this will probably be the only practical mass market energy with an acceptable  low impact on the earths  ecology.

Solar, wind and wave power may have a more ecological acceptance, but these alone can never meet the mass world requirements.

There are many engineering and physic issues to be resolved before controlled  fusion power  will become a reality, but it is a worthy goal.
