We hope the following information helps you to understand a bit more about
Motech Software.

How it works

First we take a read of your ECU through the OBD/service port. This means it is not a generic map or taken from another vehicle, it will be specific to you. After the read is taken, we send it to one of our in-house tuners to re-write the information. Our tuners have worked for some of the biggest names in the tuning industry ensuring our software is of the highest quality. After the tuning has been done all we need to do is upload the new software to your vehicle. This technique enables your vehicles to keep its original ID and allows us to produce a unique file for your vehicle.

Testing

We have tuned and tested our software on a mix of rolling roads and real world driving conditions. Once we have a tuned file, proven to work on a specific model we then apply these parameters to your vehicle's file taken from the ECU.

What if the car isn't making the power quoted on our site?

This can happen and it's due to a number of reasons. Vary rarely due engines make the manufactures figures, some make a little more, some a little less because every engine is different. The type of fuel used, air temperature, tyres and the rolling road used can all affect the measurements. What you should be looking for is the gain in power. For example we quote +40bhp on the Mk5 Golf GTi as shown when we tested the file so we would expect to see somewhere between 235-240bhp depending on the cars original power output.
The power figures are quoted on a healthy vehicle running on a good quality fuel. Good fuel is 97+ RON. A lot of people use a lower RON fuel as it's cheaper. This is fine but the car will hold back and decrease power – stopping you from getting the desired gains.

Adaption

This is when the ECU needs to learn and adapt. The vehicle will learn over time to use the new parameters installed. When a new file is loaded to any vehicle it can take a few hundred miles before you get the full gains from the new map. If you were to rolling road straight after mapping we would expect to see about 70-80% more that on the original map. This is completely normal as the car needs to learn and adapt to the new settings. We recommend you do 40-60 miles on the road to get the full effects.

Custom re-maps?

As we have said this is a unique file tuned for your vehicle, however it is not suitable for tuning extensive engine modifications such as wilder cams or turbo conversions etc. You will need a custom ECU/mapping for this. If your vehicle has bolt on parts such as a performance exhaust or cold air intake please let us know as we can tune your file for these parts.

We are not here to rip you off

We may not always give the biggest power gains...
We may not always be the cheapest...
