These are pics of David Hadfield's immobiliser board from an "L" plate 16V that I helped him fix. His symptoms were the usual intermittent engine cut-outs. Hopefully resoldering will cure his troubles. Cost to Dave - just 10 bottles of Bud - cheers Dave.

 
Solder joints 1 and 4 were faulty (the same two as on my board). Joints 2 and 3 also looked a bit suspect. Note the brown discolouration of the board around joint 1 - a sure sign of overheating caused by overcurrent.
Joint 1 from another immobiliser (Steven Binns') before it was repaired. That joint has definately been cooked. Note the solder deposits left on the board ... I only noticed this once I had photographed it ... it wasn't really visible to the naked eye.
