TRAINING

We offer training to members ranging from the BSAC Sport Diver, Dive Leader and Advanced Diver. We can also offer "In house" Skill Development Courses (SDC's) through the branch. Visit http://www.bsac.org/techserv/sdc/syllabusintro.htm for a full listing of these courses.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer entry-level training but have good links with local dive schools at the links below:
Dorset Diving Services at: http://www.dorsetdiving.co.uk
Forward Diving at: http://www.forwarddiving.co.uk/

We do however, provide cross over training for non-BSAC trained divers and progression through the BSAC diving grades to all our members. For non BSAC divers who want to find out what there current qualification is equivalent to in BSAC terms visit http://www.bsac.org/techserv/tecpubs1.htm#technical and click on SALT pdf.

Over recent years we have assisted many of our members to progress and develop their diving skills, which now means the club, boasts an Advanced instructor, Open Water Instructors, Club Instructors and Advanced Divers not bad for a small branch! Our members have also benefited from training in Oxygen Administration, Basic and Advanced Nitrox, Boat handling, VHF radio, Rescue Management, Dive planning and marshalling and extended range diving. These courses have been run either by our branch instructors, regional coaches or outside agencies.

BSAC have a strict focus on safety and rescue. These skills are taught on the very first Ocean Diver course and enlarged upon in subsequent training and qualifications. For further information on this please visit http://www.bsac.com/comediving/sdcguide.html

BSAC now has a policy for every member to complete Self Certification Fitness to Dive Certificate (see left). Divers used to have to undergo a medical examination carried out by a GP to ensure fitness to dive. For further information on fitness to dive please visit the BSAC medical page at http://www.bsac.org/medical/index.htm
