I have been practicing, learning and teaching yoga for more than twenty years and have benefited tremendously from regular yoga practice; I love to share benefit I’ve experienced through teaching.

yoga roots

bharadvajasanaI started regular yoga in the early 1980s with Iyengar yoga. This school of yoga taught me about the principles of alignment that are important in an asana (a yoga pose) and the fundamentals of pranyama (breath control) and meditation. About a decade later, Danny Paradise’s Oxford Astanga workshops inspired me to experience more energy in my yoga practice by incorporating breath co-ordinated movement (vinyasa). I learnt – and am still learning – about the liberating synthesis of asana, bandha (body-tone), dristi (focus) and ujjayi pranyama (deep middle breath) that are central to vinyasa.

yoga practice

krounchasana My own daily yoga practice is not generally a strict Astanga sequence of poses (as laid down by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois), but one that respects yoga – union of body, mind and spirit - as an ancient discipline with many interpretations.
Over the years I have been fortunate to have been taught by many dedicated and inspiring teachers, including Brian Cooper with whom I did yoga teacher training.
