18/9/99 Poynton 'B' U-9's vs Bollington United U-9's

Bollington United started their league campaign with an impressive 5-1 away win against Poynton Boys 'B' team. Declan Stevenson scored a fine hat-trick, including an overhead kick, to earn the man-of-the-match award. Ethan Kavanagh and David Murphy also scored in the first half and United held on for a great victory.
In the follow-up friendly match, fine goalkeeping from Thomas Horsfield restricted a much stronger Poynton 'A' team to a 2-0 half-time lead. But four further goals in the second half saw Poynton through as comfortable winners.Thomas Horsfield was man-of-the match.

2/10/99 Spurley Hey U-9's vs Bollington United U-9's

Bollington United Under-9's faced a difficult league fixture at Spurley Hey with both teams defending a 100% record. Declan Stevenson converted Bollington's first chance for a 1-0 lead, however Spurley Hey fought back to lead 5-1. Stevenson's consolation goal in the last minute was his fifth goal of the season, as United lost 5-2. Andy Schofield was man-of-the match.

United U-9's improved significantly in the follow-up friendly match, winning 6-3, with goals from Declan Stevenson(4), Jack Walthall and Nicholas Simons. Stevenson and Walthall shared the man-of-the-match award.

9/10/99 Bollington United U-9's vs Great Moor County U-9's

Bollington United Under-9's entertained Great Moor County in their first home game of the season. Two first-half goals from leading scorer Declan Stevenson gave Bollington a deserved half-time lead. The United defence, which was well marshalled by man-of-the-match James Carrol, held firm for a 2-1 win.
In the follow-up friendly match, Bollington strikers David Murphy and Andy Schofield shared the man-of-the-match award and the match ball, as both scored hat-tricks in a convincing 6-1 win.

 

16/10/99 Hillgate Boys 'B' U-9's vs Bollington United U-9's

Bollington United Under-9's extended their unbeaten run with a hard-fought draw at Hillgate Boys. First half goals from Declan Stevenson and Ethan Kavanagh gave United a 2-1 half-time lead. Hillgate equalised with a disputed penalty at the start of the second half. Despite late pressure from Bollington and some forging runs from man-of-the-match Tim Dalzell, Hillgate's defence held firm for a 2-2 draw.

In the follow-up friendly match, Bollington secured a 1-0 victory with a fine lob from Nathan Monks. Tom Horsfield was in excellent form in the Bollington goal to keep a clean sheet and he received the man-of-the-match award. There were also solid performances from Peter Spinks in defence and Alex Chadwick in midfield.

23/10/99 Bollington United U-9's vs Marple Athletic 'B' U-9's

Bollington United's Under-9 team extended their unbeaten run to 7 games with two fine team performances against Marple Athletic. In the league game, leading scorer Declan Stevenson scored two goals to take his tally for the season to 14 - the second goal a sensational volley from outside the penalty area following a long clearance from goalkeeper Thomas Horsfield. Andy Schofield also scored as Bollington won 3-0 with Horsfield keeping his second clean sheet in succession. Nathan Monks and Ethan Kavanagh shared the man-of-the-match award.

In the friendly match that followed, Marple raised their game after an early goal from Bollington's captain Andy Schofield and snatched a 1-1 draw with a late equaliser. Jack Walthall earned the man-of-the-match award for his skillful dribbling and fine crossing.

30/10/99 Hazel Grove 'B' U-9's vs Bollington United U-9's

Bollington United Under 9's unbeaten run came to an end at Hazel Grove on Saturday.
In the league match against Hazel Grove 'B' team, David Murphy's mazy run and cut back found Ethan Kavangh-Eyres, who side-footed home in the first minute. Man-of-the-match Andy Schofield scored with a long range free-kick and hit a post in a close first half. David Murphy also scored after the interval, but with Bollington missing 5 key players, Hazel Grove's physical superiority showed in a 5-3 win.

In the friendly match against Hazel Grove 'A' team, Tim Dalzell scored his first goal of the season, showing composure in the box before unleashing an unstoppable right foot drive. Bollington's goalkeepers David Murphy (first half) and Ethan Kavanagh-Eyres (second half) shared the man-of-the match award with excellent performances. United's defence of Monks, Carroll and Spinks were solid at the back and kept the scoreline to a respectable 3-1 defeat.

6/11/99 Mountfield Rovers 'B' U-9's vs Bollington United U-9's

Bollington United Under 9's overcame difficult conditions to register a battling 4-1 away win against Mounfield Rovers 'B' team. Andy Schofield won the man-of-the-match award for his excellent hat-trick and Declan Stevenson scored his 15th goal of the season for Bollington United.

In the follow-up friendly match against Mountfield Rovers 'A' team, Bollington held their own after conceding an early goal. Thomas Horsfield performed heroics in the Bollington goal and saved a second half penalty to earn the man-of-the-match award. Andy Schofield's late equaliser gave Bolly a deserved 1-1 draw.

13/11/99 Bollington United U-9's vs Priory County U-9's

Macclesfield's Priory County Under 9's won the first local derby of the season against Bollington United. Bollington hit the crossbar with an early shot from Jack Walthall, but goals either side of half-time by Nee and Sneddon gave Priory a 2-0 lead. Bollington's man-of-the-match David Murphy then burst through to score with a powerful finish. Despite some late pressure by Bolly, Priory County held on for a 2-1 victory.

 

20/11/99 Apollo Juniors 'B' U-9's vs Bollington United U-9's

A stunning volley by David Murphy from a Declan Stevenson corner gave Bolington United Under 9's a narrow 3-2 away win against Apollo Juniors 'B'. Apollo had twice taken the lead, but Declan Stevenson and James Carroll, his first for the club, had drawn Bolly level. Excellent goalkeeping from Thomas Horsfield and strong running from man-of-the-match Nathan Monks meant Bolly hung on for the win.

27/11/99 Bollington United U-9's vs Bramhall North 'B' U-9's

Two goals from leading scorer Declan Stevenson gave Bollington United Under-9's a deserved 2-1 win against Bramhall North 'B'. The first goal followed a fine dribble and cross from Bolly's captain Andy Schofield. Jack Walthall then whipped in a corner for man-of-the-match Stevenson to head home. Adrian Lees pulled a goal back for Bramhall, but Bollington held firm to win with an excellent team performance.

Bolly's goalkeeper Peter Spinks won the man-of-the-match award for some fine saves in the follow-up friendly game against Bramhall.

18/12/99 Bollington United U-9's vs Spurley Hey U-9's

Spurley Hey came into the game defending a long unbeaten run - their only defeat this season coming in the fixture with league leaders Hazle Grove. On a very frosty pitch Spurley Hey won the friendly match 3-0, with birthday boy David Murphy Bollington's man-of-the-match. In the follow-up league game Spurley won 4-0, but the score would have been much closer except for some outstanding saves by the Spurley 'keeper. Peter Spinks was MOTM for a fine defensive display.

15/01/00 Bollington United U-9's vs Hillgate Boys 'B' U-9's

Bollington United started the new year with an excellent 6-0 home win against Hillgate Boys 'B' team. Bolly raced into a 3-0 half-time lead with a superb hat-trick from David Murphy. Alex Chadwick, with his first goal for the club, and Ethan Kavanagh-Eyres added to the total, before Jack Walthall rounded off his man-of-the-match performance with a rasping free kick.

In the follow-up friendly match, Hillgate raised their game, but could not prevent Bollington from recording another victory. Andy Schofield, David Murphy and man-of-the-match Declan Stevenson were on target in the 3-0 win.

22/01/00 Marple Athletic 'B' U-9's vs Bollington United U-9's

Bollington United Under-9's kept up their 100% record in 2000 with a battling away win against Marple Athletic 'B' team. Thomas Horsfield saved a penalty and Andy Schofield and Declan Stevenson both scored to give Bolly a 2-1 half-time lead. Man-of-the-match Schofield increased the lead in the second-half and Bollington held on for a 3-2 win.

In the follow-up friendly game against Marple Athletic 'A' team, Thomas Horsfield won the man-of-the-match award for an outstanding goal-keeping display.

29/01/00 Bollington United U-9's vs Hazel Grove 'B' U-9's

Bollington United under 9's faced league-leaders Hazel Grove 'B' at a wind-swept Dean Valley.

Bolly dominated for long spells with Alex Chadwick coming closest for United. However Hazel Grove held out for a 0-0 draw to preserve their unbeaten record.

In the follow-up friendly match, Bolly's scorers were David Murphy following a fine dribble and Andy Schofield direct from a corner kick.
Hazel Grove twice came from behind to make the final score 2-2, in a fine, sporting contest between two in-form teams.

05/02/00 Bollington United U-9's vs Mountfield Rovers 'B' U-9's

Bollington United under 9's stormed to a 4-0 home win over Mountfield Rovers 'B' with goals from Declan Stevenson and David Murphy after a fine run from man-of-the match Nick Simons. Bolly also forced Mountfield to concede two own goals following pressure from captain Andy Schofield.

In the friendly game against Mountfield, Bollington went one better winning 5-0 with a brace from man-of-the-match David Murphy and a hat-trick from Declan Stevenson - taking his total to 24 goals in 26 games this season.

26/02/00 Bramhall North 'B' U-9's vs Bollington United U-9's

Bollington United went down to their first defeat in 2000 in a hard-fought contest against a strong Bramhall North 'B' team. Despite enjoying the lion's share of possession, Bolly could not turn their superiority into goals losing 3-1 with Declan Stevenson scoring United's only goal.

Bolly returned to winning ways in the follow-up friendly game against Bramhall North 'A' team. United won 2-1 thanks to another goal from Declan Stevenson and a 30-yard screamer from Jack Walthall.

04/03/00 High Lane 'B' U-9's vs Bollington United U-9's

Bollington United under 9's entertained a much-improved High Lane side and had to be content with a 1-1 draw. Bolly struggled to break down a packed defence and were hit by a sucker punch when High Lane scored in a break-away attack. However United's pressure eventually paid off when man-of-the-match Declan Stevenson scored a late and deserved equaliser.

The follow-up friendly match was a carbon-copy of the league game with High Lane again scoring from a rare attack and Declan Stevenson equalising late on for Bollington - his eighth goal in the last six games. James Carroll was Bolly's man-of-the-match.

11/03/00 Bollington United U-9's vs Spurley Hey U-9's

Bollington United under 9's secured a narrow victory over high-flying Spurley Hey. Leading scorer Declan Stevenson headed United's first goal after fine approach play from David Murphy. Stevenson then scored his 30th goal of season to give Bolly a 2-0 half-time lead. Spurley pulled one back after the break but Bolly held on for a 2-1 win thanks to excellent goal-keeping from Peter Spinks and strong defending from man-of-the-match Alex Carroll on his debut.

In the preceding friendly game Spurley took their chances better than United in a 3-0 victory - David Murphy was Bollington's man-of-the-match.

18/03/00 Great Moor County 'B' U-9's vs Bollington United U-9's

Bollington United earned a point in a goalless draw at Great Moor County thanks to fine goal-keeping from man-of-the-match Thomas Horsfield - his eighth clean sheet of the season.

In the follow-up friendly match Bolly found their shooting boots with two poacher's goals from Dave Murphy and two long range efforts in the space of a minute from Jack Walthall and man-of-the-match James Carroll. The final score was 4-1 to Bollington, but could have been more with Declan Stevenson hitting the woodwork three times.

25/03/00 Bollington United U-9's vs Poynton 'B' U-9's

Honours were shared in an entertaining local derby between Bollington United and Poynton Under 9's. Poynton scored a breakaway goal following early pressure from United. However, David Murphy equalised with a deceptive lob after the break, taking his total to 18 goals this season. Ethan Kavanagh-Eyres was Bollington's man-of-the-match.
Poynton shaded the follow-up friendly match 1-0 with Peter Spinks MOTM for Bolly.

01/04/00 Bollington United U-9's vs High Lane 'B' U-9's

Bollington United Under 9's recorded their fourth consecutive draw in the league at High Lane. The home side scored in the first minute and spurned a number of chances before Bolly's leading scorer Declan Stevenson brushed aside two challenges to equalise with aplomb. Nick Simons was Bollington's man-of-the-match.

Bollington edged the follow-up friendly game 1-0 with Declan Stevenson's 12th goal in 12 games. Stevenson finished clinically after being put through by Bolly man-of-the-match Jack Walthall, who also hit the crossbar with a 30 yard screamer.

08/04/00 Priory County 'B' U-9's vs Bollington United U-9's

Bollington United Under 9's came out on top in the local derby at Priory County. The home side took an early lead and Bolly defender James Carroll cleared off the line before Bollington's man-of-the-match Andy Schofield pounced on a goalkeeping error to level the score. In the second half Bollington took the initiative, with Jack Walthall setting up Declan Stevenson for his 33rd goal of the season. The Bolly defence, with Peter Spinks outstanding, held on for a hard-earned 2-1 victory.

15/04/00 Bollington United U-9's vs Apollo Juniors 'B' U-9's

Bollington United finished their league programme with a storming 4-1 victory over Apollo Juniors 'B'. Bolly took the lead in the second minute with Jack Walthall scoring after a reverse pass from Declan Stevenson. Walthall returned the complement four minutes later crossing for Stevenson to head goal number 34 for the season. Walthall then nutmegged the keeper to make it 3-0 at half-time.

Apollo pulled one back early in the second half and started to threaten, but Dave Murphy eased Bolly's nerves finishing well after a fine through ball from Alex Chadwick. Jack Walthall was United's man-of-the-match.

In the follow-up friendly match, Apollo capitalised on defensive errors to win 3-2 - Jack Walthall and Andy Schofield were Bolly's scorers.
