Duxford seemed strangely peaceful after the recent excitement of Flying Legends 2008.  The weather was pleasantly warm, but mostly cloudy.

No sign yet of the two new Hawker Sea Fury's coming to TFC (as advised on the TFC blog). In Hangar 2 Northside, The Mustang Miss Helen and Mitchell "Grumpy" were in residence. In Hangar 3, the Gannet is receiving some attention, with bomb doors and most of the fuselage panels open. In Hangar 4, HAC's Hurricane is back in residence and the Proctor has its wing boots fitted. In Hangar 5, the Wellington tail turret and Sperry ball turret are making good progress. At the rear of the Land Warfare Hall, the sand coloured T-55 has departed, but the ZSU-23 Shilka tracked quad AAA has returned and a new Hagglunds all-terrain vehicle has arrived.

On the field, TFC were running the engine on their Spitfire XVIII. A Gazelle helicopter was carrying out hover training?? on the far side of the hard runway. The Grace Spit made a couple of flights and the yellow Tiger Moth was in action. On the apron, sally-B is patiently waiting for that port outer engine to be returned and refitted. Also the A-26 that participated in Flying legends was parked close by. Several light plane movements were also under way including a sleek looking Acrosport 2 biplane.

I went down to the War & Peace Show at Beltring in Kent on Sunday. A few pics are included below....including the remains of the first IWM plastic Spitfire replica, wrecked in a gale a couple of years ago!

The Flying legends 2008 pics are now uploaded to the Air Display section.
