About The Band

The Greenock Young Defenders flute band was organised in 1986 and we are a Blood and Thunder band. This is a combination of Musical Power, Colourful Uniforms and Intense volume and Energy.

This is a marching band consisting of Drum Section, Flute Section and a Bass Drum and a colour party which will be seen at the front of the band. Our colour party consists of the Union Jack, The Red Hand Flag, and the Scottish Saltire. These flags can be seen throughout the world being carried by flute bands.

The Band aims to promote the beautiful music, culture and heritage in our town and to accompany the local orange lodges to their annual demonstrations.

The band practice in the Britannia Social Club on a Saturday afternoon from 1pm to about 3pm . Anyone that would like to join the band are welcome to come along.
