Anglers at the PAC introduced me to another organisation, The Lure Anglers Society. Lure fishing is my preferred method of Pike fishing so joining the LAS made perfect sense.

“”The LAS is the club for all lure anglers- whether your interest lies in catching pike, perch, chub, zander, bass or eve something more exotic. If you are looking for advice on how to start lure angling, help with a particular technique, even foreign travel, there is usually someone in the society, who has been there and done it to offer you advice. The members are very friendly and there is a growing network of local chapters spread around the country so that anglers can meet up for fish-ins, talks or just a pint. We can also put you in touch with members in your area of the country. Membership includes the excellent Lure Angler magazine.”

I have been fishing in some shape or form since a young age but started to specifically target Pike a few years ago.

Pike are susceptible to mishandling and bad angling practices so it was important for me as a beginner to learn the correct way to do things. I knew no other Pike anglers at the time so I read all the books that I could and joined the Pike Anglers Club of Great Britain (PAC).

I cannot recommend joining the PAC enough. It has many perks including the opportunity to meet some good people, learn new angling skills and techniques, fish privileged access events and help protect Pike and Pike Angling as a sport. I attend my local PAC region RA15, Walton on Thames.

Membership includes the excellent Pikelines magazine.

The PAC produced some very useful data sheets covering many aspects of Pike fishing such as fish handling, bait fishing and a introduction to lure fishing.

Click the link below to view these, I feel they are especially useful for beginners to the sport.

I have recently started fly fishing for Pike and consequently joined the Pike Fly Fishing Association.

“The pike fly fishing association exists to promote the care and conservation of Pike through the responsible management of fisheries and to encourage good angling practice in relation to the sport of Pike fly fishing”

The PFFA holds privilege access events and has a very informative forum and web site. I’ve personally been given a lot of useful advice.
