general information - 

 

location & time:

cost:

  • sessions are £4 per week, ideally paid before the start of the session

  • there is an ongoing option throughout the year to pay £12 in advance for 3 consecutive sessions, the fourth session is then free - the four sessions must be consecutive to receive the offer

swim programme:

  • the current programme extends from September 2008 through to December 2008 - follow link below

  • the programme is designed to support swim development building towards the triathlon racing season

  • each month there will be a test incorporated into the session - these will assist with your stroke development and also session pacing - pacing charts will be available at all sessions (see link below)

swim sessions:

  • session plans will be provided each week and available on this website

  • the sessions are designed by abc's head coach, who is a bta level 3 qualified coach

  • each session will include a warm up, drill/kick set, main set or test and cool down - on occasion a short speed set may be incorporated into the session

  • sessions are tailored in length according to the speed/experience of the lane - there will be an easy lane (1), med lane (2), med/fast lane (3) and a fast lane (4)

  • drill sets are included to assist with your stroke development - these are standard drills and may require the use of a float or pull buoy (available at the pool), paddles or fins (not provided) - a brief description of the drill technique will be provided on this web site

safety:

  • please review the lane organisation plan (follow link) - this will be adopted each week and is for your safety

  • safety cover is provided by the staff at selwyn jones and the venue's own emergency procedures should be followed - if unsure please ask a member of staff

  • if you are a newcomer, please advise the ABC members collecting the money and taking the register of any medical conditions you feel should be made known for safety reasons - i.e. this may include the accessibility to an inhaler for asthma
