Hi all, I'm Matt Shillabeer the ashurstbc triathlon & duathlon captain and current club chair, so welcome to ABC.

I started duathlon and triathlon in January 2006 after 16 years of playing rugby union.  I soon joined ashurst and now coach, train and race for the club including duathlons, sprint and standard triathlons, aquathlons and many local cycle time trials.

2008 brought more great results to ABC including the coveted North West Club Championships title.  There was further action in the World Duathlon Champs, World Triathlon Champs and World Ironman Champs in Hawaii by ABC members.  A good haul of North West titles and trophies in several age groups completed the year.

The club membership continues to grow, especially with our females and at all levels of experience.

Again this year we will be looking at getting a few club teams together for the national club relay championships at holme pierrepont in nottingham.  This will be on Saturday 22nd August and should be a fantastic club event for racing & supporting members.

As you local triathletes now know Ironman UK is coming to Bolton and 2009 will see a big contingent from the club competing along with me in my first Ironman!

For my sins I also look after the club kit , so I carry out all liaison with our kit suppliers, take the orders and deliver to members

In 2008 I competed for the GB age group team at the World Duathlon & Triathlon Championships which has again been supported financially by warrington borough council under their community sports grant programme

This year I will be competing for GB at the European Triathlon Age Group Championships in Holland and also attempting to qualify for the World Duathlon Championships in the USA in September.
