I am grounded in the classical tradition but have an eclectic taste and I have a flexible approach to fit the needs of my students. I am happy teaching dedicated musicians and those wishing to learn as a hobby. I am warm, friendly, patient, enthusiastic and supportive.
I come from a very musical and creative family. My mother is one of twelve
children and most of them play the piano and other instruments. I started
learning to play with her at a young age. During my school years I gained
my ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal School of Music) grade
8 in piano. I also learnt the recorder and the violin and later
switched to studying the viola. I graduated from the University of East
Anglia in Norwich, in 1981, with a BA (Hons) Music.
Although classical music is my greatest love I enjoy all types of music. My broad musical interests mean that my students can study for the Associated Board exams and master the classical traditions, whilst others may choose to play the music of Sir Elton John, Stevie Wonder and others. The choice is yours.
Whether you want to do grades or not I endeavour to create a relaxed and enjoyable environment in which to explore great music!
