"The arguments to clean up our transport are compelling - the good news is that there are cleaner alternatives to traditional petrol & diesel engine vehicles".

What is LPG?

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is mainly comprised of propane. It is a by-product of oil refining and is also found as an associated gas in natural gas (methane) fields. It is often used as a bottled gas for cooking and heating where there is no natural gas pipeline nearby.

What are "Dual-fuel" LPG vehicles?

"Dual-fuel" or "Bi-fuel" LPG vehicles are vehicles with petrol engines converted so that they can operate on LPG or petrol, the change from one fuel to the other taking place at the flick of a switch. Several UK manufacturers are now offering bi-fuel vehicles as standard products.

Why Switch to Cleaner Fuels?

A vehicle which runs on clean fuels PRODUCES FEWER HARMFUL EMISSIONS.
Up to 24,000 early deaths per year result from poor air quality in Britain's cities there are a similar number of hospitalisations - almost wholly as a result of vehicle emissions.
6,000 miles in a car will produce roughly its own weight in C02
Transport is responsible for about 25% of the UK's output of C02, the main gas implicated in global warming.

Alternate transport fuels can play an important role in mitigating two of the most damaging effects of the growth in traffic in Britain: Urban Pollution and Global Warming.
Traffic is the main cause of poor air quality in Britain's cities and of significant health problems.
