About
Mary Mary trained at the London College of Massage and is a qualified LCM (dip) massage therapist. She offers general therapeutic massage for women and has trained to offer care aimed at pregnant women. Mary also offers baby and infant massage instruction. About Massage Massage can help relieve stress, aches and pains, improve blood circulation and induce a general sense of well being. Therapeutic massage blends the strokes of Swedish massage and the sensitive, holistic approach of Intuitive massage. Each massage is unique and carefully tailored to your needs. That may be soothing and gentle or a much deeper treatment. Women, and mothers in particular, have busy lives. Mary
has established a shoulder neck and back massage for those
aching
muscles caused by picking up, carrying and general tension. Treatment is based on a free initial consultation and either a full hour body massage or a half-hour massage. Mary uses an organic grapeseed base-oil and Neal's Yard essential oils. She is based in the Queen's Park and Hanover area of Brighton. Mary has her own treatment room. Home visits may be arranged for clients who have mobility impairments. Therapeutic massage for men by referral only from women clients. Pregnancy massage Mary offers a massage
service
specifically for pregnant women and stressed mums! Many pregnant women
experience pain and discomfort - Mary recommends a massage to help:
Mary offers baby massage classes to individuals, families or small groups. Massage supports bonding and comforts and stimulates babies. Babies from birth up to 6 or 7 months benefit from a daily 15 minute massage. As they become more active they will continue to benefit from 1 or 2 massages a week. Benefits can include:
As children grow up many primary schools (such as St Luke's in Brighton) encourage "peer" massage. Peer massage helps to build confidence and a caring relationship between pupils. It is also an effective way of calming excited children so that they can better focus in their lessons. Mary teaches parents and carers to better understand the sensual and tactile world of the infant. Her approach is based on understanding how touch and body-awareness are vital to how we experience the world around us. Babies are surrounded by a world of stimulation that is ever changing - new sounds ring and buzz in our ears and sights flash and glisten before our eyes. Touch and the closeness of our loved ones are sensations that connect us to our first experiences of the world in a deeply emotional way. Sessions are tailored to the needs of the group. They will include understanding of body awareness, confidence building, gentle massage techniques and friendly discussion about baby care and parenting. Courses consist of four 1.5 hour sessions and include social and relaxation time. Courses in the Hanover/Queens Park area - please contact Mary for course dates. Alternatively a course can be arranged in your own home, daytime or evening. |
