Fact 3 - About ten o'clock this forenoon the body of a plater, named Robert MCKechnie, was discovered lying in the hold of a vessel in course of construction in the shipbuilding yard of Messars Scott & Co, Main St. In the earlier part of the morning McKechnie had been working at the cargo ports at the side of the vessel, and it is thought that while in search of some article he accidently fell through the ballast-tank hatch into the hold, a distance of eighteen feet. The accident was apparently not observed by anyone, and by the time the discovery was made, the unfortunate man had succumbed to the injuries received, which were principally about the head. Deceased who was married, resided in Port Glasgow
