Stronachullin Lodge

Stronachullin Lodge ...

... was built in 1894 as a shooting lodge by Robert Graham-Campbell of Shirvan.  The architect was Sir Robert Lorimer, and the house is a Grade 2 listed building.  Built around a courtyard, it was constructed of local rough stone, with traditional harled walls and a slate roof.  After some years of being rented to shooting parties, the Graham-Campbells moved in, and the house is still lived in by their descendants.  You are free to explore the extensive grounds, which are full of rhododendrons of all sizes and colours.  Wellington boots are recommended!

Walking up through the woods and across a bridge will bring you to an old orchard, full of daffodils in spring time.  The hills behind offer wonderful views of Loch Fyne.  Though only 2 hours drive from Glasgow, the peace and clean air of this tranquil corner of Argyll is special.

In 1996 the present owners decided to convert the house to provide 3 generous self-catering units, alongside a home for their own families.  Careful planning has resulted in comfortable, well-equipped homes, where visitors are sure to feel relaxed and welcome.  Each home has TV, video, and DVD; a well equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washer/drier; and oil fired central heating with thermostatically controlled radiators.  All linen is provided, except for towels.
