Martyn Shouler graduated with a masters degree in communication design at Central Saint Martins College in 2007. His work exists somewhere between the conceptual and the whimsical and increasingly reflects his fixation with type and lettering. In 2008 he began producing hand-drawn maps based on imagined and actual wanderings that subsequently grew into a series, blurring the boundary between cartography and illustration.
He has lectured on the subjects of visual communication and illustration at Bedford College and the University of Derby.
