As mentioned in Snippets 167 the former Whitwell & Reepham station site has been bought by a rail enthusiast. The plan to relay track came to fruition on 20th March when the first lengths of track were delivered.


ROLLING STOCK

Last NXEA Class 156 trains refurbished

In mid-March National Express East Anglia upgraded the ninth and final Class 156 two-car DMUs that operates most of its rural services. The refurbishment incldes new carpets, seats and tables.


PRESERVED RAILWAYS

Mid-Norfolk Railway has new signal box at Dereham

On 10th March volunteers at the Mid-Norfolk Railway lifted the new Dereham North signal box on to a base next to the London Road level crossing. The signal box, which requires substantial restoration, had origniated from Laundry Lane crossing in Lowestoft.
