VICAR'S LETTER
Churchwardens
It was clearly with deep affection and appreciation of their devoted work that the
Easter Vestry Meeting thanked the retiring Wardens for their long service to the Church
and Parish. Mr. Perry had been Vicar's Warden for 25 years, and Mr. Walker People's for
11. A small presentation was made to them on behalf of the Church Council and Parish. Both
made a short speech thanking the congregation for its unfailing support, emphasising that
heir work had been a labour of love, and regretting that age and infirmity did not permit
them the happiness FO continued service. I assured them that though no longer in office,
we would continually be calling upon them for advice and help.
I then nominated Mr. Arnold Court as Warden, to the obvious satisfaction of the
meeting; and on the proposal of Mr. Walker, seconded by Mr. Cooper, Mr. A. E. Wilson,
D.Litt, F.S.A., was unanimously elected to the other vacancy.
In closing I would mention the fine Easter Services, with the record number of 500
communicants, and thank you for the very handsome Easter Offering you gave me.
Yours sincerely
R. JONATHAN HILLS.
