The Ill Men 2, Leeds Fives 1

 

The Ill men pulled together brilliantly and were deserved winners in the first of the 2 games this evening. Both keepers (Kier Sanderson of Leeds Fives and John Davison of The Ill Men) were in spectacular form saving the volley of shots that rained in from all over the pitch but, despite this, the Leeds boys, unusually lacking discipline in defence, could not keep The Ill Men at bay. Dom Hallas played well and scored for Leeds Fives. However, a brace from Rob Mullett, in addition to a fne overall performance gives him Man of the Match.

 

 

Futsal MN10 3, FC Dave 5

 

To use that old football cliché, this was definitely ‘a game of two halves. In the first half, the MN10 team drove forward as a team and really had the FC Dave boys on the back foot. The ‘Daves’ struggled to cope with the incisive passing of both Dom Hallas and Matt Norris and became increasingly frustrated as the half wore on. In fact, Matt Norris scored the first three goals – 2 in the opposition net and 1 in his own! A fourth goal by Nick Black meant that the half time score was 2 all. The second half, though was when the Daves began to play. Ben Honeyman put FC Dave ahead and Andy Thurman and Adam Densley added to their eventual 5 goal tally. A single goal in the second half by David Smeathers for MN10 was not enough to beat the undefeated FC Dave team. Man of the Match – Robert Oxley who refused to give up and rallied his team to the victory.
