The Friday night newcomers showed great skill in this game against the league’s youngsters. The deadlock was broken early when Bill Allamby sprinted from the bench to the back post for a tap in. Further goals from Ryan Jepson (2), Loz Hayes and a superb shot by James Nemeth meant that the MN10 team needed to break down the Leeds 5s’ defence but Dom Hallas stood firm at the back. Man of the Match, however, must go to Kyle Jones for a superb hat trick in his first ever game of futsal.
The ill Men 0 FC Dave 7
This seems to be a cruel score line that does not reflect the way The Ill Men played. Unfortunately a fantastic team performance under the leadership of Ross Jones and amazing goal keeping by Kier Sanderson, deputising for the ill John Davison, was not enough to keep out the FC Dave boys who had both Nick Black and Tom Rawson in fine form. Man of the Match must, however, go to Rob Oxley who scored two and set up four! His individual moments of magic were the difference between the two teams – it can’t be long, surely, before the England scouts pick him out from the pack in a National Conference game.
