FC Dave 5, Leeds 5s 0

 

A great start to the league from two teams playing well. The FC Dave team was boosted by the loan of John Davison (The Ill Men) in goal for the night. In the first half, he kept them in the game by closing down the Leeds 5s’ forwards and with some fabulous saves.

 

The Leeds 5s team, with an average age of just 15, held the senior team to 1-0 until half time. However, FC Dave came out for the second half in determined mode. An unlucky own goal didn’t help the Leeds 5s cause and, as the second half drew to a close and the younger side pushed on to try and make up the deficit, FC Dave scored three goals in quick succession: one a magnificent strike from the halfway line by Rob Oxley.

 

Great performances from Nick Black (FC Dave) and Loz Hayes (Leeds 5s) had them vying for the Man of the Match accolade but, on this occasion, I would have to give it to the Leeds 5s wide man, Ben Pitts-Murray, for his superb vision and silky footwork. Sorry Ben, no bottle of Champagne though, as you’re too young!
