After some time being spent to find a suitable venue the new futsal-leeds.org league commenced with preliminary games on 1 February 2008 at Scott Hall Sports Centre. The league proper began on 2 March.

The league will be sponsored by local Leeds company Activ8 Sporting Solutions who have agreed to provide the league trophies. Managing Director Simon Brooker says:
"I am thrilled at the prospect of working in partnership with futsal-leeds.org. 2008 will be an exciting time for futsal in Leeds and we fully intend being a part of the future growth in this sport. The benefits from playing futsal should be something that all traditional football supporters can easily recognise. Maybe the next England manager can have his say about the future technical skills of the players at his disposal and whether Futsal would be a good training session to improve basic skills? Between futsal-feeds.org and Activ8 Sporting Solutions we should be able to make real progress in this sport during 2008".
This will be a male league with ages from 15 years upwards. The intention is to create a quality league which allows young new players to start to play competitive games without having to be concerned about their own safety. All good futsal players know that the strength of the game lies in its fair play and behaviour which is often exhibited in 5-a-side leagues will not be tolerated.
The league will initially run with up to 8 teams and it will form part of the qualification process in the Leeds area for Futsal National Championships which take place in Sheffield each June. The league will be extended when enough additional teams have registered to play.
