The top five ranked teams in the world for Futsal are:

 

1. Spain
2. Portugal
3. Italy
4. Brazil
5. Ukraine

But did you know that:

• England are ranked 58.
• Italy’s ranking rose rapidly after the country nationalised 10 Brazilian players!
• Brazil was placed below Spain in the rankings recently despite the fact
  that neither team had played a game!

The world's best player

 

Currently, the World’s best individual Futsal player is Brazil team Captain, Falcao.

 

But surprisingly:

 

Falcao never played football at all until he was 22 years of age when a friend asked him to go along and play for his Futsal team.

Within two months he was team captain. And, as Falcao, himself, said in an interview “. . . the rest is history!”

The European Championships 2007

 

The Championships will take place in Porto, Portugal in November, 2007

 

England's chances?

• England must pre-qualify for the tournament
• In their pre-qualifying group, England will meet Latvia, Bulgaria and Romania.
• Their qualifying matches will take place in January in Deva, Romania – home of the very successful Romanian National Gymnastics Team!
• Romania are world ranked number 10, Latvia number 54 and Bulgaria number 71
