FC Barsa

FC Barsa are the Leeds Futsal League reigning champions having won the title in June 2006 and 2007. Following a play-off against Halifax Futsal League winners Metro Cabs, Barsa earned a place in Futsal National Championships in 2006,which take place annually in Sheffield.

They are young side both in terms of age (average age is 18) and length of time that the squad have been together (3 months at the time of the Nationals in July 2006). As a result, results were mixed but the team did earn admiration for their skill and commitment from other teams and officials including England team Manager Graham Dell.

The team is coached by Kevin Barr a coach well known in North Leeds, from where FC Barsa originate, but also well respected in the the futsal national organisation.

FC Barsa are also part of the Futsal Premier League. This is a "whole new ball game" as they play at the Gemtec Centre in Hull which has a wooden floor over which the futsal rolls true and fast compared to the astroturf surface used in Leeds at the John Charles Stadium. (Please note Leeds City Council, Leeds does not have the appropriate stadia for futsal!).
