Notes: According to his granddaughter Lillian Hagger, Charles was a
ship's butcher, who took live animals to Australia for slaughter. He was gone
for 6 months at a time, and used to joke that he always came back to find a new
baby. He apparently fathered eight, although I have only discovered seven so
far.
