Notes: Although apparently registered as Charles Burrell WITT, he called
himself Charles Stokes WITT at his marriage, and appears to have used that name
thereafter. Where he got 'Stokes' from is a mystery. He is mentioned in Ellen Emma Burrell Alexander's will,
which names his widow (Mrs. Edie WITT) and children among the beneficiaries
Occupation
1901 Sergeant Infantry (census)
