Source: Approximate year of birth only, calculated from:
1841 census of Taunton, Somerset -
aged 50, born Somerset [almost certainly a birthplace error, because at his
marriage he was "of Yarcombe", which is in Devon]
1848 Death certificate - aged 56

[8519] Source: Print from microfilm of original register (at Taunton Record Office), supplied by Pamela Steadman. Text reads "Jacob Tranchard of the Parish of Yarcombe in the County of Devon and Hannah Syms of the Parish of Chard in Somersetshire, both resident in this Parish, were married in this Church by Banns this twenty fifth Day of December in the Year One thousand eight hundred and sixteen - By me L. H. Clapp Vicar". Jacob Trenchard signed the register, and Hannah Syms made her mark 'X'. Witnesses were Ephraim Trenchard and J. Long (the latter was witness to another marriage on the same page, which may indicate that he was not connected to the bride or groom, but just a regular witness - maybe the Parish Clerk, or someone similar).
