Notes: Edward HAGGER, who married Sarah REYNOLDS in 1789, was one of two
cousins, both called Edward. The other Edward HAGGER married Ann WARD, also in
1789, and it appears to be impossible to tell which one was which. Edward
HAGGER and Ann WARD disappear completely after their marriage. No baptisms of
any offspring can be located, nor a death/burial for either Edward or Ann.
Presumably, they migrated to another part of the country, or maybe went
abroad?
One Edward HAGGER was the son of
Thomas and Sarah HAGGER, the other Edward
HAGGER was the son of George and Mary HAGGER. Thomas and George HAGGER
were brothers, both the sons of William and Martha HAGGER. So, although we are
unsure of the parents of Edward HAGGER, we can at least be certain about his
grandparents.
Occupation

[166] Source: Copy of GRO death certificate. We cannot be absolutely certain that this was 'our' Edward HAGGER's death certificate, but the signs point that way. If he died in the Union Workhouse at Bassingbourn, and was buried at Therfield, it seems reasonable to assume he was a Therfield native. The only Edward HAGGER known to have lived at Therfield during the 50 years prior to this death was 'our' Edward HAGGER (married to Sarah REYNOLDS). Incidentally, he was probably only about 77, not 82 as recorded on the certificate.
